Garlic-Ginger Tonkatsu (Breaded Fried Pork)
Ingredients
1 egg
1 tablespoon roasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon grated ginger
1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
1/2cup~1 cup store bought bread flakes (preferably for tempura)
1 cup vegetable oil
2-3 pieces of 1/2" thick sliced pork cutlets with edge of fat
2 tablespoons grated daikon or spicy daikon
Japanese white rice
Heat vegetable oil in a large non-stick pan on medium-high heat. Combine the ginger and garlic in a tiny bowl. In a small-sized wide and shallow bowl, crack and whip egg with sesame seed oil. In a separate medium-sized wide and shallow bowl, put in bread flakes. Next, coat the pork cutlets in the egg mixture. Before putting the pork into the bread flakes, sprinkle some ginger and garlic on top of the flakes, then lay pork cutlet on top. Next, sprinkle some ginger and garlic on top of the pork cutlet. Flip it over. Make sure ginger, garlic and bread flakes are sticking to the cutlet. When hot oil is ready, fry the pork for 4 minutes on each side or until bread flakes are golden brown and the pork is cooked all the way through. Put the Tonkatsu on a plate with paper towels to soak up excess oil.
Cut Tonkatsu into strips. Place over Japanese rice. Coat with Tonkatsu sauce first, then daikon and Japanese green onion. Now eat it, you big baby.
Paprika Chicken
